Dear me, NY Fashion Week for Spring 2009 is halfway through and I’m just now starting to post about the shoes on the runway. The silver lining in the delayed post is that many designers have been featured so I can now present you with one of the trends seen on the runway…pastel colors.
In contrast to the bright, neon colors seen this year, Spring 2009 brings lighter pastel palettes to the table. This was evident on the soles of Rose Cha’s models

and also with Lacoste.

Brazilian designer Alexandre Herchcovitch dabbled with softer colors, too. His designs have the distinction of having a criss crossed heel in the shape of an X, which I love.

Unfortunately, some of the shoes also featured a case of what I call too much going on. These boots (they can’t be very breathable during the spring) are covered by brass studs, buckles, lace ups, etc. You name it, the shoe seems to have it, but not in a good way. The net effect of the pastel color on these boots is that they remind me of the rubber gloves my mom used to wear when washing the dishes.
